Earlsdon Primary School
Earlsdon Primary School was granted Coventry Peace Award on 3 December 2020, the first school to receive the Award.

The assessors considered that Earlsdon Primary is doing excellent work in promoting peace which is not only embedded within the curriculum in school but also used on many opportunities outside the school. The breadth and depth of the evidence showed the school merited the Peace Award.

Attending CPD linked to the Award and its aim
We have had visits from Coventry Cathedral and attended school of sanctuary and peace award CPD. All staff have had Emotional Coaching training. We have staff booked onto training organised through Coventry Peace Award – see action plan submitted
Evidence of work linked to Peace and Reconciliation at a school
We have embedded Peace and Reconciliation into our curriculum through local history, geography and PSHE – for examples see submitted action plan
Pupil participation in Coventry peace initiatives
Year 6 use Coventry Peace Trail every year and have displayed art work inspired through this in the cathedral, council house and local buildings . We visit the Memorial Park and learn about the importance of remembrance. See submitted action plan
Evidence of wider peace and reconciliation work in the community, nationally or internationally
We use Peacemakers ‘Learning through Peace” as the foundation of our PSHE curriculum. Our Coventry Ambassadors and preparing for the Japanese Peace Festival. We visit Coventry Refugee Centre every year and make gifts for newly arrived refugees. See submitted action plan
